Awards:

The 2021 Global Book Awards.

The Global Book Awards aim to recognize talented authors in both traditional publishing and in self-publishing.

In this modern age of publishing, books need to be appraised not only by their content and writing style, but also by the way they present and market themselves to the prospective buyer, whether that is in the good ratings it has on important stores like Amazon, its book cover and description, or the number of reviews it has collected. They must also appeal to new readers so part of the evaluation included a survey asking avid readers to select the top 5 books they enjoyed the most.

The awards are grouped by category and divided into Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Award Finalists.

Book Description:

Fulfillment, healing, peace & happiness should never come at the cost of losing our smarts, uniqueness, strength, integrity, sense of humor, or cool...

Finally! Someone had the cojones to write it: A seriously funny & irreverent spiritual self-help book that bypasses all the conventional & cliched niceties & offers youthe reader & star of the show– dead-on, practical ways to change your life for good, forever.

Spirituality for Badasses takes you the reader on a high-stakes, cross country, road trip adventure where you’ll encounter a cornucopia of beautiful places, strange experiences and wild people. In the midst of this adventure you will be challenged, pushed to the edge and invited to experience life and yourself in radically transformative ways: Your guide and traveling companion, J. Stewart Dixon shows you the gritty no-holds bar ropes of what it takes – attention, awareness, mindfulness, recognizing the limited ego-mind, meeting deep seated fears and knowing your most intimate inner self- to become a true spiritual badass.

Fair Warning: Contains cursing, tequila drinking, loud rock-n-roll and bar fights. This ride is not for the faint of heart, those easily offended or those who can’t handle shadowy, counter-intuitive, uncomfortable truths.  Spirituality for Badasses is a backwards, upside-down, handle bar-free,106 m.p.h., roller coaster ride of a self-help book – that doesn’t let up until your real self has been really helped.  “No, friend—this is not Chicken Soup for the Soul. This is a double shot of LSD-laced, jalapeño infused Patron tequila…and it’s going to eat your soul for breakfast. Just kidding—sort of.”

From Chuck Hillig, best-selling author of Seeds for the Soul:Spirituality for Badasses is an irreverent, exuberant, free-wheeling, stream of consciousness saga that chronicles the spiritual journey in ways that are unique, humorous, challenging and a hell of a lot of fun … buckle up and be prepared for a wild ride that’s readable, accessible and eminently relatable. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!  Highly recommended!”

Okay Badass- It’s time to decide:

2021 Professional Book Reviews:

"Spirituality for Badasses should be part of any self-help, spirituality, or mindfulness collection.

It goes where no other books in these genres dare travel, doing so in such a manner that older readers may be offended...but younger audiences will find it enlightening food for thought that speaks their language in a way no other book matches.

Highly recommended for discussion, contemplation, and action-oriented response, Spirituality for Badasses is sassy, brash, forthright...and just the cup of tea needed for modern generations. (Heck, make that a cup of vodka. It really packs a punch.)"

"Dixon has much to offer, repackaging mysticism, intentionality, and self-care into something proudly lowbrow and accessible."

Kirkus Review Excerpt:

A motivational work blazes a spiritual path for those who consider themselves too cool for such things…

He mixes stories from his own slacker’s quest for enlightenment with lessons from modern psychology, thought-provoking parables, and awareness exercises, all delivered as part of his jocular, profane, and fourth wall–breaking monologue…

Chapters end with what Dixon calls “Spiritual Badass Lessons,” which remind readers how to react in various situations, generally by falling back on mindfulness or awareness practices…

Dixon’s meta he-man shtick will likely turn off some readers—but the manual’s intended readers seem to be a specific type: those who maybe don’t peruse that many books and who need this sort of playful hand-holding in order to access the spirituality they crave but are scared to explore. For that audience, Dixon has much to offer, repackaging mysticism, intentionality, and self-care into something proudly lowbrow and accessible.

A jokey yet earnest and useful guide to enlightenment for badass readers.

- Kirkus Reviews

"a very contemporary spin on the pursuit of self-knowledge (that) serves its lessons up in easily accessible portions."

Pacific Book Review Excerpt:

"an expansive sometimes manic tour de force through thousands of years of received wisdom and spiritual teaching. The author gifts the reader with his encyclopedic knowledge of self-help books and spiritual traditions, in the process serving up his own very contemporary style ...

Dixon always keeps it real and fresh with plentiful allusions to pop culture, to television and movies and consumer brands that serve to keep the reader in this very moment of history and awareness. The author's use of pop culture and often obscene colloquialism is in the service of keeping his spiritual smorgasbord timely and relevant.

Dixon's hortatory efforts are never wide of the mark. He rightfully focuses on the primacy of consciousness and awareness. He has clearly done his spiritual homework and he succeeds at distilling the effective and life-changing ingredients of contemplation and initiation. His relationship to his student/reader is like a shaman drill sergeant cajoling and nudging and ultimately getting his team over the hurdle."
